What happens to your business when a tool you rely on is no longer safe to use?
That’s where many businesses are heading with Windows 10.
Microsoft is ending free support for Windows 10 on October 14, 2025. That date is closer than it seems, and upgrading takes time to plan, budget, and roll out.
Once support ends, there are no more security updates, no more fixes, and no help from Microsoft. Your devices will keep running, but without protection, leaving you exposed to cyberattacks.
The worrying part is how many businesses aren’t ready. A recent survey showed that 18% didn’t know support was ending, and 14% knew but hadn’t started planning. That’s a lot of risk sitting on business networks.
Microsoft does offer Extended Security Updates, but they’re expensive and only a short-term fix. Costs go up each year.
Why you shouldn’t wait
The smarter move is upgrading to Windows 11 now. It’s faster, more secure, and built for how businesses work today. It comes with stronger security tools and better integration with Microsoft Teams, OneDrive, and Copilot.
But not every Windows 10 device can run Windows 11. Some businesses will need new hardware, which makes acting early even more important. Waiting until the deadline means rushed, costly, and disruptive changes.
October 2025 is the cutoff. The longer you wait, the harder and more expensive the transition becomes.
If you haven’t started preparing, now is the time. Ask your IT partner: “Are we ready for Windows 10 end of life?” If the answer isn’t a confident yes, it’s time to make a plan.
